What is life coaching?
Let’s take it back to its namesake.
Say you wanted to play a mean game of tennis, and you hired a tennis coach.
What would you expect from that?
My guess is that you would expect someone who was trained to design strategies that would work with your specific needs, strengths, and weaknesses in your game. You would expect them to collaborate with you on regular activities/practices/assignments so you knew exactly what you needed to be doing to move forward in your game. They would monitor with you to make sure these activities were achieving their desired result. They would suggest tweaks and adjustments along the way. Then, when you hit one milestone – maybe certain skill mastery or maybe a tournament victory – they would collaborate with you to determine the next milestone, and the best strategies and activities to get there. Right?
That is life coaching, in a nutshell.
There are a variety of coaching specialties. I specialize in getting from point A to point B – and often figuring out what point B even is. Career changes and job-hunting are two objectives that I often work with. But my clients have also come with specific dreams and hopes – about their novel, their weight, their education, their clutter. My personal training and experience in both coaching and project management make this a perfect fit. I have other coaches I refer to that specialize in health, addictions, relationships, spirituality, and other areas.
