It sounds like I am trying to be funny, but I am serious. Is there something you’ve been wanting to do, but you just aren’t doing it? If you are like most of us, there is probably more than one reason for that. However, I can almost guarantee that one of the reasons is that your time is being eaten away by things you feel obligated to do, things you are doing mindlessly, and a whole assortment of time-wasters and time vampires.
So consider creating a “To-Don’t” list. List those black holes, guilty obligations, unimportant tasks. One of my items is getting sucked into interesting articles on my phone, or in news magazines. Another is going past the “meaningful connection” point in phone conversations. What are some of your time vampires?
If you were going to make a list of them, where could you put it so it would remind you to put the phone down because you have some dreams worth pursuing? I keep a list in my daily planner. Some people find sticky notes useful – on their computer or their bathroom mirrors. What would work for you?
